ABOUT CARTER

"In recognition of this, his steadfast resolution, we honor him as commander of Noble."

Carter's Career and Backstory

Carter-A259, callsign Noble One, was the commander of Noble Team. He was a Spartan-III commander.

Carter was born on August 27th 2520 on the planet Biko. He was a survivor of the attack and glassing of the planet, but his parents were not. When he almost joined Biko's refugee program, he was conscripted into the S-III program's Alpha Company. He was known for his exceptional skill and often stood out compared to other Spartans.

He had earned the UNSC Navy rank Commander due to his leadership skills. This made him part of the small ammount of highly ranked Spartans to serve. When the special forces unit "Noble Team" formed, Carter was set as the leader of that team. The team was made of other Spartans, but most notably Catherine-B320, more commonly known as Kat. The two were the only ones to survive that first Noble Team, and his superiors gave Carter the freedom of picking new replacements because of his team-building skills.

Carter and the rest of Noble were in many battles, such as Defense of Concord (2551) and Battle of Fumirole (2552). Though their operation was successful, though Noble Team had lost one of it's members, Thom-A239, the Noble Six before Spartan-B312. The death affected the team, but mostly Carter and Kat. The two couldn't admit that it was his own fault and tried to take the blame. Carter blamed his "inadequate team preparation" and was left with minor trust-issues after it.

Carter during The Fall of Reach

Carter led his team through many operations, such as the first confrontaion with the Covenant during Visegrad Relay. Two members of Noble went before him, Jorge-052 and Kat. He was there to witness the death of Kat, which noticeably affected him. Though upset, he kept leading the rest of Noble. On August 30th 2552, He and the rest of Noble went to Sword Base as they got orders to destroy it, but their route was changed by an unknown AI. They eventually met up with Dr. Halsey. She prompted Noble Six to be the courier of a package for the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. Said package was the UNSC AI Cortana.

Noble Team followed her orders and went to deliver Cortana. Jun-A266, Noble Three, and the rest of Noble split up, using Pelicans as their transportaion. While they were delivering Cortana, Carter got seriously injured while flying their Pelican. He urged Emile-A239, Noble Four, and Noble Six to jump out, as the package was the top priority. He diverted the Covenant's attention onto him so the two other Spartan's could continue groundside. While on their journey, a Covenant Scarab blocked their path. To let Emile and Six contuining delivering Cortana, he sacrified himself by crashing into the Scarab.

Fun Facts

Carter was canonically older than most other Spartan-IIIs! (Standard age being 6, Carter was 11.)

Carter is the only member of Noble Team that doesn't work in a duo with the player.

His voice and appearance wasn't always the same. In the Video Game Awards trailer for H:R, an older render of Carter had a noticably lighter skintone and a shaved head (and looked... greasy. eugh.) and in the H:R teaser trailer, Carter's voice sounded (in my opinion) like a weird Master Chief. I'm not sure how to explain it so heres the trailer.
